Christmas Time!

It's the time of year when you become kin to that smell..........the fireplace would look bare if there were no stockings. You love seeing a blanket of sparkling snow that always looks too beautiful to be real. You only use those illuminating tree lights to light up a room. It becomes a part of you for that short period of time. For some people it brings back childhood memories of setting out cookies and milk for Santa. Or more special detailed memories like mine of waking up on Christmas morning and seeing the book tub by the chimney knocked over with books everywhere. Or when I painted a Santa ornament and wrote a note for Santa on Christmas Eve and got a reply back saying when I read it, it would be on the tree where him and Mrs. Claus could admire it while they ate dinner.

It's memories like this that make up a life of happiness. Where you come home for the holidays after a semester of college and wish that you were only 4 again. That you were always with mommy and daddy to tell them every day truly how much you love them. How much you had always hoped one day.......you'd grow up and be just like them. That you would find a husband or wife just like your mom or dad. That you never got mad and drove off that night they said no to something. That you resented the days they grounded you. But looking back, you would have turned into that one kid down the road who didn't come home for Christmas if you stayed mad.

We do the things we do because we love the people who are guiding us. But sometimes.....we forget that they are doing what they do......to teach us. To mold us into the people they know we can be. And when you wish going back on that Christmas of age 4, and you go to your old bedroom, and you see the old pictures and paintings of your art set......you remember the innocence of a child is what the world needs sometimes. That whenever you become a parent and your child wakes you up on Christmas morning......get up with joy and video tape EVERY single second of the smiles......the giggles............the moments of awe. Because one day.....they'll grow up to be just like you, and they'll want to see those videos of simpleness. When there was nothing to worry about. Mommy and Daddy paid the bills, and you made finger paintings in the kitchen.

So this Christmas..........tell the people who have guided you to this very moment of reading my blog, tell them how much you love and appreciate them. Because after all...........what does Christmas mean? Christ. The Lord....Jesus. He died on the cross for our sins. He did what he did.....because he loves God.  He believed everybody should be forgiven. So when your celebrating his birthday...........remember why. Why.............
